25th Insurance & Reinsurance Meeting
A Milestone Celebration of Ideas, Partnerships & Impact

The island of Hydra once again became the meeting point of the insurance and reinsurance world, as the 25th Insurance & Reinsurance Meeting, organized by the Hellenic Association of Insurance Companies (HAIC), took place from 21 to 23 May 2025. Celebrating its 25th anniversary edition, the Meeting attracted over 420 executives from 18 countries, confirming its position as a premier international gathering where knowledge, dialogue and partnerships thrive.
Opening the Meeting, the President of HAIC, Alexandros Sarrigeorgiou, highlighted the importance of this long-standing institution for the Greek and international insurance market and welcomed participants to Hydra.
This year’s sessions set the stage for substantive debates on the industry’s future. The opening panel, “Insuring Tomorrow: Bridging Gaps, Embracing Change, Attracting Talent”, featured Marc M. Büker of SCOR SE, Ekhosuehi Iyahen of the Insurance Development Forum, Theodoros Kokkalas of ERGO International, and Tobias Sonndorfer of VIG Re, who explored issues such as protection gaps, natural catastrophes, cyber risks, health insurance and talent challenges, in a discussion moderated by Errikos Moatsos, CEO of Ergo Hellas.
The spotlight then turned to Greece with a leadership dialogue that highlighted the challenges and opportunities of the local market. Vassili Christidis, CEO of Allianz European Reliance, Panos Dimitriou, CEO of Generali Hellas, and Nicolaos Macropoulos, Chairman and CEO of Europa Insurance, engaged in a dynamic exchange coordinated by Elina Papaspyropoulou, Director General of HAIC.
Beyond the stage, the Meeting pulsed with networking and celebration. Elegant gatherings hosted by AON Greece Reinsurance Solutions, Eurolife FFH, Howden, Guy Carpenter S.A., and SRS Group of Companies created a unique setting for connections and collaboration, while Interamerican, ERGO Hellas, and Europa Insurance provided essential support to ensure the seamless and secure execution of the event.
Marking its silver anniversary, the Meeting also combined business with purpose. A symbolic underwater cleanup of Hydra’s harbor, organized with the NGO iSea and supported by local schools and divers, sent a strong message of sustainability and community engagement. Participants enjoyed a 25-year commemorative video and received exclusive anniversary gifts that highlighted the significance of the occasion.

With 99% of attendees affirming that the Meeting exceeded their expectations, the Hydra Meeting once again confirmed its reputation as the place where global insurance leaders come together to exchange ideas and shape the future.

Here’s to the next 25 years of dialogue, innovation and partnerships in Hydra!
